How long have you been in recruitment?

I have been in recruitment for 11 years after stints as an Engineer and a Mortgage Sales professional for a niche bank.

Tell us about your previous experience before becoming a rec2rec?

Prior to becoming a rec2rec I worked in financial recruitment firstly building Reed Insurance’s East of Scotland Financial Services Team from the ground up to cover all areas of Financial Services including Insurance, Investments, Financial Advisers, Mortgage Advisers and so on. I then continued in the same field building HR Consultancy’s (Scotland’s largest independent recruitment company) Financial Services division from scratch to cover the UK and helped build and manage a team of 24 in two locations. My team became the number one supplier to companies such as Lloyds, RBS, Santander, Barclays Wealth, Axa, St James Place and Prudential in Scotland. I moved to Singapore in March 2011 where I became a Director of a small financial recruitment firm before accepting a role in 2012 to head up McCall’s Singapore branch.

How did you become a rec2rec?

As with most recruitment jobs I kind of fell into it, I met the MD of McCall’s who was on a visit to Singapore at the time and before I knew it I was heading up their Singapore branch.

What makes you a great rec2rec?

My passion for the job, my indepth knowledge of the market and my straight up attitude. I go the extra mile to find out exactly what my clients are looking for to build their business and I meet every candidate to make sure I find them the best next step on their career ladder. Watching companies grow to new heights because of the talent I have provided, and in turn watching people grow to new heights in their career, is why I love to do this job.
